Is there any particular reason why; prior to the set command that a runners has to have both hands and one knee in contact with the ground and both feet in contact with the starting block? Along with why your feet have to maintain contact with the starting blocks when in the set position?
The above is a portion of rule 161 from the USATF rule book.
I have been working with a different style of crouch start that doesn't require you to get down on all fours. It is very effective.

The above post should read all fives, hands, one knee and your feet.
As a matter of fact you don't even kneel down to set it up. |
